Officials urge progress in shanty town, old residential area renovation

A special meeting was held on Oct 18 by the Guiyang bureau of housing and urban-rural development to discuss the importance of Guiyang's shanty town and old residential area renovation program.

Departments involved in the three-year program were urged to take action to boost the city's economy, promote the city's new image, raise the quality of life, and improve living conditions at the meeting.

Officials were required to base all their renovation plans on people's needs, strengthen overall implementation of the plan, and prepare provincial shanty town renovation application work.
