Construction of the main section of the Taiciqiao Viaduct – a key component in the Taijin transportation network – was reportedly completed on July 1 in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The viaduct starts at the southern end of Renmin Avenue and ends at Guantan Avenue, spanning 1.22 kilometers and consisting of 26 sections. When officially launched, the viaduct will connect Guian New Area and Guanshanhu district and is projected to alleviate traffic congestion on Jiaxiu South Road.
The main section is 60 meters long, but the heavy traffic of the crossroad beneath the section made construction work difficult due to security concerns.
Zhang Lixin, official in charge of the work, said they chose to build the viaduct at night, from 10 pm to 6 am the next day, in order to minimize the effect of the construction on normal transport.
