In order to boost people's sense of security and wellbeing, the government of Xifeng in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has launched a campaign to raise the standard of accommodation for rural citizens.
A total of 46,409 households in the county have been checked for potential hazards, and 35 houses have been repaired. 578 damaged residences have also been taken care of, with those that met the dilapidated building renovation standard receiving financial support from the government.
Coordinated efforts have been made between different government bodies to renew Xifeng's rural image. Last year, a total of 3,100 households were targeted, and an additional 1,626 households will be renewed this year.
The Xifeng government has also participated in special training lectures organized by the Guizhou Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and has selected a pilot village for hospitable rural residence construction.
