The Guiyang bureau of housing and urban-rural development issued a punishment notice on April 28, criticizing 15 construction companies working on five ongoing construction projects in the city for being negligent in causing dust pollution during their construction work. The notice also commanded the corresponding supervising agencies to see to it that the problems listed in the document are solved within a prescribed limit of time.
A meeting was held on May 6, in which the government required the construction units and supervising agencies involved in the five projects to conduct a review of the existing problems. These include not spraying water to reduce the dust, not fully covering the construction grounds, and allowing dirty engineering vehicles to enter the city roads.
Supervising agencies are required to conduct daily checks on the projects they are held responsible for.
