Guiyang city, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is reportedly pushing ahead with moves to improve and revamp its alleyways and backstreets by the end of 2023.
To establish a clean, tidy and comfortable environment – as well as complete facilities and establish a healthy environment in these streets – Guiyang will set out standards.
The city will supervise the utilization of funds, and conduct inspections and assessments of renovated backstreets in its communities, as well as agricultural product markets around schools in 2021-23, combining three-year renovation plans for old communities and shanty towns.
The comprehensive environmental management and improvement of backstreets will involve 10 areas – including better sanitation, dismantling illegal structures, repairing public infrastructure, cultivating green landscapes and managing night market stalls.
The city will also increase its investment in them and prioritize the renovation and upgrading of 360 backstreets in the current year, as well as 300 in 2022 and the remaining backstreets in 2023.
