The plan for the Majiawan Public Rental Housing Program was released recently, with 1,340 new public rental houses being built in Wudang district of Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The program will occupy an area of 140,000 square meters, with a building density of 21.3 percent. The green space will cover 35.46 percent of the whole area. There will be 11 residential buildings, with each of them having 19 floors. The residential community will be well facilitated with 1,340 parking spots and a kindergarten.

Under construction since 2019, the program was launched by the local government and targets lower income social groups that may find it difficult to buy or rent a house. This group of people currently can have government assistance for housing by applying either for public rental housing subsidies or renting public housing.
