The traffic connectivity projects in Guiyang and Guian New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province, saw significant progress in 2020. Three out of seven roads that started construction last year have opened to traffic, and one more road will open before the Spring Festival.

The remaining three roads will open in the first half of this year, and the regional express railway will be constructed in 2021. When completed, people will be able to travel between Guiyang and Guian in half an hour.

The rail transit line S1 will open to commuters in 2023, and the construction of the southern section of line S2 is under preparation. Guiyang will also start the construction of a tramcar line connecting to the university town this year.

The improvement of the traffic system aims to boost the integration of Guiyang and Guian's policy advantages, development potential and resources, increasing the Guiyang-Guian region's competitiveness.

Take the Songbai Ring Road and Mengxi Road in Guiyang's Huaxi district as an example. Once constructed, the two roads will connect with tourism and cultural facilities in neighboring areas to develop Huaxi's tourism and entertainment industries.

Based on the concept of integrated industrial development, Guiyang will build a road belt in several areas, becoming an economic corridor to serve the big data, intelligent technology and high-end manufacturing industries, as well as primary industries such as e-commerce, tourism services, real estate and administration.
