Xiuwen kiwifruit enters harvest season

The annual harvest season for Xiuwen kiwifruit has begun with the arrival of autumn. Favorable weather this year has brought a bumper crop, with the total output estimated at around 150,000 metric tons.

Orchard management practices, including fertilization, weeding, pest control, and pruning and shaping, have been carried out in accordance with established quality standards and eco-friendly cultivation practices this year. Both yield and fruit quality have improved, with average yield projected to exceed 2,000 kilograms per mu (0.06 hectares).

"Our orders mainly supply export markets and high-and-medium-end domestic channels," said Huang Lianghua, a Pingtan village representative. "Our products are sold to Russia, Malaysia, and Dubai, so quality is vital. We conduct regular inspections once a week, and current test results fully meet import and export requirements."

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has included Xiuwen among China's 15 representative regions for the high-quality development of the fruit industry. Drawing on its unique resource endowments, it has lifted the overall quality of its kiwifruit industry.

Xiuwen has also enhanced its supply chain by upgrading cold chain infrastructure. A total of 428 storage and fresh-keeping warehouses have been built with a capacity of 29,400 tons, and 10 kiwifruit sorting lines have been introduced, delivering a daily sorting capacity of 300 tons.
