Xiuwen acts to promote ecological specialty food sector

In recent years, Xiuwen county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has focused on the production, processing and sales of ecological specialty food to promote the high-quality development of the sector.

From January to November last year, the county achieved a total industrial output value of 3.7 billion yuan ($517.63 million) in the ecological specialty food industry.

Relying on the Guiyang Agricultural Products Logistics Park and the Digital Poultry and Egg Distribution Center, Xiuwen has cultivated leading agricultural enterprises that now provide high-quality and low-cost raw materials for the ecological specialty food industry chain.

So far, the county has cultivated 27 leading enterprises, and the Digital Poultry and Egg Distribution Center has become the city's only permanent live poultry wholesale trading market. Its average raw material price is 5 percent lower than compared to regular enterprises.

Efforts have also been made to cultivate enterprises in several fields, including meat and eggs, fruit and vegetables, fungi, snack foods, and dairy products.

Currently, the county is home to 26 ecological specialty food enterprises above a designated size. Guizhou Haoyiduo Dairy Co occupies 90 percent of the high-end market share for fresh milk in the province.

In addition, online platforms such as JD, Meituan, and Taobao have facilitated the sale of ecological food to locations all over the country. In 2023, the e-commerce sales of Xiuwen kiwi fruit exceeded 1 million orders.
