Located in the central part of Guiyang, Damu village covers an area of 17 square kilometers and consists of 14 village groups. The village is home to 2,199 residents, with the Bouyei ethnic group accounting for 40 percent of the total population.
Besides its 95-mu (6.3 hectares) artificial lake, the village also has a green coverage rate of more than 58 percent. Damu village is often referred to as a "natural oxygen bar" that offers not only lush mountains and meandering streams, but also a pleasant living environment.
In recent years, Damu village has tapped into its local cultural resources, highlighting its "Five-Color Culture", which incorporates red Long March culture, blue Bouyei culture, white county sage culture, golden ginkgo culture, and green rural culture.
Each autumn, Damu village's Ginkgo Square becomes a stunning sight. Its three thousand-year-old ginkgo trees turn golden, attracting waves of tourists.
Moreover, Damu village has revitalized the Bouyei culture by showcasing its distinct ethnic traditions. Given its historical significance as a passage for the Red Army during the Long March, which took place between 1934 and 1936, visitors can still find remnants of that era throughout the village.
Driven by its local industries and resource advantages, Damu village has been actively promoting the integration of tourism and agriculture. By connecting its tourism resources with unique agricultural products, the village has added value to local produce and increased farmers' incomes.
