Xiuwen hosts free clinic on thyroid health

Xiuwen County People's Hospital and the departments of vascular and thyroid surgery and endocrinology at Guizhou Provincial People's Hospital hosted a large-scale free clinic on May 20 to welcome International Thyroid Awareness Week that runs on May 25-27.

During the event, more than 240 copies of health education and publicity materials related to the prevention and treatment of thyroid tumors were distributed.

Xiuwen County People's Hospital provided free B-ultrasound examinations of the thyroid glands for more than 60 people, and a team of experts provided tailor-made treatment plans for thyroid diseases after reviewing the examination results, also free of charge.

Afterwards, Yu Zhaoyan, the deputy director and chief physician of the department of vascular and thyroid surgery at Guizhou Provincial People's Hospital, and Chen Yuan, the attending physician, gave lectures about academic issues related to the thyroid gland.

These saw the two experts teach participants about thyroid diagnosis and treatment techniques in combination with clinical cases, while also engaging in highly productive interactive discussions.

The event aimed to raise the public's attention about thyroid health and actively prevent thyroid diseases.
