Xiuwen makes major achievements in education over past decade

Over the past decade, Xiuwen county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has made great progress in the education sector.

From 2012 to 2021, the county invested nearly 5.56 billion yuan ($780.2 million) into education in order to increase the number of teachers and improve school conditions.

The Xiuwen High School, Xiuwen No 3 High School, Xiuwen No 4 Primary School, Xiuwen No 5 Primary School, and Xiuwen No 3 Primary School were built and 118 renovation and expansion projects were carried out.

In addition, high-quality educational resources were upgraded and Shizhen College of Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Guiyang Mingya School were introduced.

Some schools were upgraded to provincial model high schools and characteristic model high schools, and more than 6,900 students in Xiuwen were admitted to colleges and universities, with a record number being admitted to Tsinghua University and Peking University.

The county's national compulsory education was approved as basic balanced.

Moving forward, Xiuwen plans to improve how schools are run, promote the quality and balanced development of education, strengthen training of teachers, and improve the overall quality of students.
