Over the past decade, Xiuwen county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has promoted the coordinated development of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries, achieving high-quality development.
The county's GDP increased from 5.23 billion yuan ($727.9 million) in 2012 to 19.48 billion yuan in 2021.
Xiuwen has adjusted and optimized its agricultural industrial structure and accelerated the development of its four characteristic mountain industries - fruit, vegetables, livestock and medicine.
Since 2012, the county's fruit-tree-planting scale has reached 335,700 mu (22,380 hectares), with 167,000 mu of kiwi plantations.

It has built a 190,000-mu vegetable base with an annual vegetable sowing area of 350,000 mu and an output of more than 556,000 metric tons.
Xiuwen has also been focusing on the development of modern medical and nursing industries. So far, the county is home to 25 pharmaceutical companies, including 17 above a designated size – those with annual output value of 20 million yuan ($2.78 million) or more.
The industrial economy in the county has also experienced breakneck development. During the 10-year period, Xiuwen Industrial Park introduced more than 150 projects, forming 10 characteristic industries such as advanced equipment manufacturing, ecological specialty food, and health medicine.
Currently, there are 2,147 industrial market entities in the county, and 107 are industrial enterprises above a designated size.
The tourism market in Xiuwen has also continued to grow, with the development of the tourism industry accelerated.
The number of tourist visits and tourism income in Xiuwen increased from 5.21 million and 3.59 billion yuan, respectively, in 2012 to 9.48 million and 9 billion yuan in 2021, an increase of 81.8 percent and 150 percent.
