Xiuwen-based steelmaking company operates successfully

The electroslag steel production site of the steelmaking division of Shougang Guiyang Special Steel Co – located in Xiuwen county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is currently operating without issue.

Shougang Guiyang Special Steel Co is the only enterprise in Guizhou that produces high-quality special steel.

The company has improved its smelting efficiency by optimizing the production process and adjusting the ratio of slag materials.

The smelting cycle has been shortened by two hours, and the amount of power consumed by electroslag smelting has been reduced by 17.39 percent year-on-year, with the monthly electricity bill reduced by 82,500 yuan ($11,462.5).

The company's monthly electroslag steel output is currently about 500 metric tons, a year-on-year increase of 125 percent. Based on current progress, it is expected to complete 108 percent of its annual goal and achieve an output value of over 51.8 million yuan.

Meanwhile, the company is relying on the existing production capacity of electroslag steel and subsequent capacity expansion projects to tackle key problems in the development of high-end special steel products, such as tool and die steel and military steel, promote market-oriented operations, and seek new development opportunities.
