E-commerce platform helps sales of Xiuwen's mandarin oranges

This year, with the help of Baiyun district's e-commerce service center, Xiuwen county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province opened up new production and sales channels through the One Ma Guizhou platform. The move enabled the county to sell 125,000 kilograms of mandarin oranges across the country in just a few days.

Taoyuan village in Xiuwen has been planting tangerines for more than 30 years with a planting area of 2,500 mu (166.67 hectares). The mandarin orange industry is one of the leading industries in the village and an important source of income for the villagers.

"This year, the mandarin oranges were just about to go on the market, but there had been heavy rain. The oranges were still hanging on the trees, and the farmers were very anxious," said Song Kunhong, who runs the planting base in Taoyuan village.

After learning of the situation, Baiyun district's e-commerce service center conducted field research on the scale and quality of mandarin oranges, helped the planting base expand e-commerce channels such as the One Ma Guizhou platform, and connected direct sellers and encouraged community group purchases.

"Thanks to the assistance of the e-commerce service center, more mandarin oranges can be sold and their profile can be increased," Song said.
