Xiuwen county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was recently designated a national agricultural science and technology modernization construction pioneer county by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
The county possesses the largest kiwi fruit planting, fresh-keeping, and processing base in Guizhou. The planting area of kiwi fruit is 167,000 mu (111.33 hectares), ranking third in the country and first in the province.
In recent years, relying on the kiwi fruit industry, Xiuwen has promoted the development of agriculture and created a national modern agricultural industrial park and national rural industrial integrated development demonstration park, further advancing the integrated development of rural primary, secondary, and tertiary industries in the county.
In order to modernize the industrial chain, the county has also actively promoted the construction of an agricultural machinery industry demonstration zone.
Through the "scientific research institutes + business entities + agricultural bases" model, the construction of supporting facilities such as agricultural machinery, agricultural machinery parts sales areas, maintenance areas, and warehousing and logistics areas will be completed.
An industrial cluster will also be formed to build a whole industrial chain for mountain agricultural machinery and equipment R&D, manufacturing, and sales.
