Xiuwen county helps out with rural revitalization

Xiuwen county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is actively developing its rural industries, in order to boost the revitalization of the sector in the region.

The county is cultivating new agricultural business entities, such as village supply and marketing cooperatives and farmer cooperatives.

It now provides a one-stop consultation service to advise them on product selection, breeding, soil testing and formula fertilization, pest control and other technical guidance.

At present, Xiuwen has developed 413 specialized farmer cooperatives, encouraging more than 30,000 farmers to buy shares in them, while reducing production costs for farmers by more than 4 million yuan ($621,217).

Moreover, it has introduced a rural cooperative financial service -- helping to solve the problem of insufficient investment in the local agricultural industry.

Through a credit cooperation model, 31 village collective enterprises have been cultivated, helping more than 450 households shake off their poverty.

In addition, Xiuwen has pitched in to help farmers market and sell their products. Since the end of 2016, one county-level e-commerce public service center and 85 e-commerce service sites have been developed, helping farmers sell kiwi fruit and other products for more than 500 million yuan.
