The groundbreaking ceremony for eight key projects in Xiuwen county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was held on Oct 9, with a total investment of 1.72 billion yuan ($256.07 million).
They include five social welfare projects with an investment of 1.32 billion yuan, two agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery projects with an investment of 57 million yuan and one energy and raw material project with an investment of 350 million yuan.
The Guizhou Yangming Confucian Institute project -- which served as the site for the groundbreaking ceremony -- has a total investment of 1 billion yuan and a total land area of 380 mu (25.33 hectares).
The project will further enhance the image of Xiuwen county and play a greater role in the promotion of Yangming culture.
