Guiyang -- capital of Guizhou province in Southwest China -- is strengthening the supervision of its environmental concerns.
On July 21-23, city officials were formed into inspection teams and jointly carried out on-site inspections in Qingzhen city, Baiyun district, Wudang district and in Xiuwen county.
Remedial results concerning environmental issues in mines operated by Guizhou Aluminum Co and in Gaojia River in Qingzhen were revealed, together with readings from water reclamation plants in Baiyun, as well as in Wudang's Huoshipo and Luowan industrial parks.
Conditions in Xiuwen industrial park, Zhenzhu River and Xiuwen River were also checked.
The results showed that strict instructions to rectify and repair conditions had been complied with and smooth progress had been made – with the Gaojia River now clear and its water quality levels rising to Grade III in the first half year of 2020. Water reclamation plants and river clean-ups also made great progress, officials said.
In addition to the on-site visits, the inspection team also reported the results and its further instructions to the local authorities.
