A pharmaceuticals subsidiary of Guizhou-based manufacturer Kefu Group on Feb 29 donated more than 600,000 yuan ($87,926) worth of medicines to support the fight against the novel coronavirus in two hospitals in the city of Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province.

To date the unit, Kefu Likang, has donated medicines worth more than 6 million yuan to COVID-19 patients and announced 2 million yuan in donations to about 100 hospitals designated for COVID-19 treatment across the country.

The company had fully resumed work and production, while not neglecting its epidemic prevention and control efforts.

It had accelerated its production of anti-pandemic medical supplies, including a patented Chinese medicine for gastrointestinal ailments and an anti-pruritic ointment.

In addition, it has offered free medicines to many designated hospitals across the country, delivering the donations to hospitals and distributing them among patients and medical staff members directly.

Meanwhile, it sent proposals on public health services to the Red Cross societies of all provinces and autonomous regions.

Yuan Shuquan, executive officer of the pharma company, said Kefu Likang had picked up the pace of its preparations for the resumption of work and production when the shortage of medicines worsened after the COVID-19 outbreak.
