Guiyang has accelerated its rural industrial reform and gradually established a long-term mechanism for local economic development by strengthening industrial restructuring, the linkage of production and marketing, as well as industrial integration.
Since this year, the city planted 190,200 mu (12,680 hectares) in economic crops with high output value, such as fruit, Chinese medicinal herbs, tea, and edible mushrooms, while decreasing 308,200 mu in corn, which has less economic benefits. In addition, the city promoted the construction of vegetable bases with high-standard equipment in Changshun county, Pingba district, and Yinjiang county. Major projects of live pigs, chickens, and fish were also promoted.
In terms of strengthening the linkage of production and marketing, Guiyang developed an organization pattern to gather leading enterprises, cooperatives, and farmers, helping more than 130,000 rural households increase their average income by 1,295 yuan ($184.6). A total of 527,700 tons in agricultural products worth 3 billion yuan were traded at the Guiyang logistics park for agricultural products.
As for industrial integration, the city promoted the construction of several industrial parks to focus on the processing of agricultural products, completing the total output value of 69 billion yuan, with a processing conversion rate of 51 percent.
In order to promote the integration of agriculture and tourism, the city added five provincial rural tourism spots, two rural tourism routes, and three characteristic small towns, earning 14 billion yuan in the comprehensive income of rural tourism.
