The Liuguang River Grand Canyon is located in Liuguang Town, Xiuwen County, about 70 kilometers away from downtown Guiyang. Located on the Liuguang River in the upper reaches of the Wujiang River, which is the boundary river between Xiuwen County, Qianxi County, Xifeng County and Jinsha County, the canyon is 70 kilometers long. It is sometimes wide and sometimes narrow, and there are many waterfalls and flowing springs on the cliffs. The mountain scenery and the waterscape add beauty to the surroundings.
The Liuguang Lake is an artificial lake formed after the completion of the Wujiangdu Hydropower Station in 1979. The lake is located on the 40-kilometer waterway from Baimatan to Zimei Peak, with 42 scenic spots among the seven gorges. The Liuguang River scenic spot is in the "seven gorges". Down the stream, you can enjoy Baima Gorge, Houchou Gorge, Feilong Gorge, Chibi Gorge, Xiangbi Gorge, Jianpi Gorge, Haima Gorge, as well as waterfalls, ancient woods, monkeys, egrets and more. When you reach the Sancha River, you can see two bamboo shoot-like stone peaks, which are called "Zimei Peaks".

The Liuguang Rive Grand Canyon scenic area is famous for its deep valleys, bizarre mountains and quiet waters. The jagged rocks, ancient trees, and waterfalls are also worth seeing. Wang Yangming once praised the beautiful scenery, saying"The scenery in Liuguang River is better than that of Jiuhua Mountain and any other place".
