Kaiyang county in Guizhou province has been renovating aging residential neighborhoods and upgrading infrastructure to improve living conditions.

Many residential compounds in Zhongshan Community are aging, with uneven roads, deteriorating walls and water leaks causing problems for residents.

To address these problems, Zhongshan Community conducted door-to-door visits, listening to the needs of its residents before developing a tailored improvement plan.

The community has now converted 1,678 square meters of concrete road to asphalt, created more than 520 square meters of cultural display walls, repaired glazed tiles on 98 meters of perimeter walls, and added fitness equipment. It has addressed roof leaks in four housing units and exterior wall seepage at 44 locations affecting 23 households.

In December 2025, Kaiyang launched a comprehensive domestic sewage pipeline network improvement project, which is expected to be completed in December 2027.

It involves building 26.2 kilometers of new pipelines, 1,163 inspection wells, and two integrated sewage lift stations, clearing and repairing 28.4 km of aging pipelines, repairing 31 inspection wells, renovating one pumping station, and carrying out supporting work such as optimizing pipeline nodes and removing obstructions.
