The 5th Traditional Sports Games of Ethnic Minorities in Kaiyang county, Guiyang, were recently held at the Kaiyang County Ethnic School.
The games included competitive and performance events. Competitive events featured activities such as shoulder pole twisting, arm wrestling, high-stilt racing, plank shoe racing, cuju (traditional Chinese football), spinning tops, and dryland dragon boat racing. The performance event showcased the ethnic bamboo pole dance, creating a sense of cultural vibrancy.
The competitions predominantly featured traditional ethnic sports, many of which have evolved from the daily production, lifestyle, and festive activities of ethnic groups.
On the day of the event, students enthusiastically participated in various competitions. While showcasing their unity and talent, they deeply experienced the rich cultural heritage and history of ethnic minorities, as well as the unique charm of traditional ethnic sports.
