Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received 210,000 visits during Mid-Autumn Festival from Aug 15 to 17, generating tourism revenue of 116 million yuan ($15.96 million). This is thanks to the county's unique natural landscapes, engaging cultural tourism activities, and attractive ticket packages.
In Nanjiang Grand Canyon, tourists enjoyed immersive adventure activities such as rock climbing, glass suspension bridges, canyon rafting, and jungle trekking.
Shili Gallery Scenic Area offered family-friendly experiences, including paragliding, fruit picking, farming activities, children's events, countryside dining, and riverside barbecues, fostering an inclusive and joyful festive atmosphere.
At Hou'er Sinkhole Scenic Area, visitors flocked to unique extreme sports attractions such as the "super swing", waterline walking, vertical extreme challenges, cloud walking, and cave exploration.
To enrich the holiday experience, the county's culture and tourism bureau organized performances at local attractions to delight visitors with a vibrant cultural feast.
As nearby getaways and rural tourism have become popular among travelers recently, many opted for family outings, road trips, and local tours to enjoy Kaiyang's natural beauty and folk culture. This surge in tourism boosted the county's hospitality sector, with near-full occupancy at Xingyue Tianyuan and Yunlu Yeshe, a 60 percent occupancy rate at Baimayu Hot Springs Hotel, and 40-50 percent occupancy at homestays such as Shuidong Xiangshe and Yunshan Chahai.
