In celebration of the upcoming seventh Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival, Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, held a harvest-themed event in the county's Maoyun township on Sept 6.
The event began with the song "Meeting in Guizhou", followed by a series of well-choreographed performances. Colorful flags fluttered in the air as the audience erupted in applause.
Next came an exciting sports competition featuring traditional activities like harvesting rice in the old-fashioned way, tug-of-war, grain-carrying relays, and catching fish in muddy water. The rules were cleverly designed to emphasize teamwork and competition while maintaining a sense of humor, closely reflecting the daily lives and work of farmers. The games were warmly received, with many people eagerly joining in.
During the competition, participants gave their all, moving swiftly and nimbly. Amid laughter and playful banter, they grew closer to one another while enjoying the autumn harvest. The festivities concluded with a grand long-table banquet, warmly welcoming guests from all directions to celebrate the Harvest Festival.
In addition, a special exhibition and sales area for agricultural products was set up at the event. A variety of goods, including chili peppers, rice, and camellia oil, were displayed, drawing crowds of people.
