Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, the transportation network in Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been further improved.
Over a 10-year period, the total length of rural roads in Kaiyang reached 3,720.85 kilometers.
The Weng'an-Kaiyang High-speed Railway and the high-speed railway linking Kaiyang county with urban Guiyang were completed and opened to traffic.

The county currently has 4,115.24 km of highways, including three national highways totaling 159.51 km and five provincial highways totaling 234.88 km.
On Nov 16, 2021, the Wujiang River route, Guiyang's northern connection to the Yangtze River, was opened, making Kaiyang Port the largest of its kind in the Wujiang basin in Guizhou.
