Guizhou Kaiyang Economic Development Zone (Kaiyang EDZ) in Kaiyang county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was recently designated as one of Guizhou province's 45 key development zones.
Established in 2011 with the provincial government's approval, Kaiyang EDZ is a provincial-level economic zone strategically located in central Guizhou. It lies at the heart of the Xifeng-Kaiyang-Weng'an-Fuquan phosphorus chemical industry corridor. It serves as a bridge for regional economic integration and a crucial hub linking the north and south for industrial development, with its advantageous location significantly supporting its growth.
The zone has taken modern chemicals as its leading industry, focusing on high-end phosphate fertilizers, fine phosphorus chemicals, and new energy battery materials. Its specialty industry is the deep processing of selenium-enriched agricultural products.
In 2021, Kaiyang EDZ was recognized as one of Guizhou's first chemical parks. The zone has also received numerous honors, including recognition as a National Phosphorus-Coal Chemical Eco-Industrial Demonstration Base, a National New Industrialization Industry Demonstration Base, and a Guizhou Provincial New Industrialization Industry Demonstration Base, as well as the title of "2021–2023 Guizhou Advanced Unit for Promoting New Industrialization Development".
