Kaiyang celebrates Bouyei ethnic festival

Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, launched an array of activities to celebrate the sixth day of the sixth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, which is an important traditional festival for the Bouyei ethnic group and fell on July 23 this year.

The two-day celebration, featuring many special performances by ethnic minorities, attracted thousands of Bouyei people and other visitors.

The county also held a number of folk activities, including folk song competitions, group interactions, 1,000-person night banquets, bonfire parties, tug-of-war, basketball games and more, promoting the traditional culture of the Bouyei people and showcasing the achievements of rural governance.
