White-necked crows, which are under first-class protection in China, have recently been spotted in Matou village in Kaiyang county in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The back and chest of this particular crow are white and form a collar, while the rest of its body is black, giving way to its name: white-necked crow.

It is understood that due to their small numbers, white-necked crows have been included in the Red Data Book of Endangered Animals.
