The first phase of a phosphogypsum powder production project in Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, started trial operations on March 31.
The project was invested in by Guizhou Huiyang New Materials Co, a subsidy of the Yunnan Sinway Group registered in Kaiyang, with a total investment of 80 million yuan ($12.01 million).
Construction on the project started in July 2021 and included two production lines, each with an annual production capacity of 300,000 metric tons of phosphogypsum powder.

The production lines are meant to explore a new path in the comprehensive utilization of phosphogypsum solid waste produced by the company's 250,000-ton mono ammonium phosphate production line.
The first phase of the project is currently under trial operations and can handle 435,000 tons of phosphogypsum and produce 3000,000 tons of phosphogypsum powder each year, which is expected to contribute 3.45 million yuan in local tax revenue.
