Chuandong village – administered by Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – has been acclaimed for having developed into an environmentally friendly and livable village after years of continuous efforts.

The village is located in the north of Kaiyang county's Hefeng Bouyei and Miao Township and has a population of 2,179.

Chuandong is a pilot for the development of a village-level collective economy in Kaiyang, and it has been rated as one of the 100 beautiful villages built in the Guiyang city administrative region.

In recent years, Chuandong village has comprehensively improved its residential environment and has achieved full coverage of water, electricity, roads and communications facilities.

Its rural infrastructure has reportedly been significantly improved, while the rural landscape has been renewed.

To boost its green development, the village has established planting areas for selenium-enriched rice, the tender leaves of Chinese toon and chili, and it has introduced eco-farming technologies combining lotus roots with fish and rice paddies with ducks.

An e-commerce station has also been established in the village, to promote the sales of local agricultural products.

Additionally, Chuandong village has written ecological construction and environmental protection into the village regulations and agreements, with 75,000 yuan ($11,252.81) being invested each year to maintain public sanitation.

The village was reportedly lifted out of poverty in 2019.
