The new Xizhou Avenue located in Kaiyang county -- located in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- opened to traffic on April 30, according to local media reports.
With a total length of 6.59 kilometers and a width of 30 meters, the dual passage, six-lane thoroughfare is expected to substantially streamline travel from downtown Kaiyang to the county's economic and technological development zone.
Wang Qiyun, Party secretary of the county committee, officially announced the opening of the avenue.
Meanwhile, Sun Xin, head of Kaiyang county, told the ceremony that the new route was a key link between downtown Kaiyang and the economic development zone, making it significant for expanding urban development spaces and promoting the construction of industrial parks.
The new thoroughfare will lay a solid foundation for Kaiyang, to achieve rapid economic and social development, she added.
In addition, the opening of the avenue would play an important role in expanding the development of tourism resources and in the rural revitalization of Kaiyang county, according to officials.
