Kaiyang county in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has applied and promoted agricultural mechanization, making it easier for farmers to manage their crops, according to local reports.

Shuai Guangguo, a villager in Anguanzhai group of Dianzhai village in Hefeng township, Kaiyang county, said that last year, he rented a large mechanical harvester to reap his crops. The rental cost him 400 yuan ($61.68).

The harvester finished the work within 20 minutes, according to Shuai. It used to take one whole day for four workers to do the same job, costing at least 500 yuan.

It is not only Shuai who has benefited from agricultural mechanization and the improved efficiency it offers.

In recent years, as the rural population travels to cities to work, labor has been in short supply. Thankfully, farming methods have undergone modernization and mechanization, which have made harvesting crops easier for farmers.

Now, modern farming tools can be seen everywhere in Hefeng township, ranging from rice harvesters, corn threshers and plowing machines to drones spraying pesticides. Modernized agricultural tools have not only saved farming time and labor costs but also brought prosperity to agricultural workers.
