A list of key rural tourism villages in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was announced on March 10 by the Guiyang Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the Guiyang Development and Reform Commission. A total of 21 villages made it onto the list.
Three villages in Kaiyang county were included on the list, namely Tiankan village in Nanlong township, Qingjiang village in Huali town and Changhong village in Hefeng township.
In recent years, Kaiyang county has made great efforts to promote rural revitalization and advance the development of countryside tourism.
The county took advantage of high-quality resources, including characteristic landscapes, farming culture and rural customs, to develop characteristic products. It has developed rural tourism projects featuring agricultural sightseeing and experiences.
These rural tourism projects helped consolidate the achievements of poverty alleviation and promote rural revitalization, according to officials.
Data shows that during the Spring Festival holiday this year, Kaiyang received 235,900 visits, a year-on-year increase of 104 percent, with tourism income of 130 million yuan ($19.99 million), a year-on-year increase of 182 percent.
