Relying on the resource advantages in phosphorus, aluminum, selenium, and on its excellent ecological environment, Kaiyang county is striving to build core pillar industries in high-end manufacturing, selenium-rich food, and ecological health and tourism.

It focuses on developing the four major industrial clusters of modern phosphate and coal chemical industry in the west, ecological and efficient sightseeing agriculture in the north, tourism and healthcare in the south, and selenium-rich agricultural products and processing of Chinese medicinal materials in the east.

Phosphate, coal and aluminum industries 

Kaiyang aims to promote the high-precision development of its phosphate, coal and aluminum industries with research and development of fertilizer, new materials, new energy, energy storage, new building materials and high-end chemical products.

Manufacturing industry

Focusing on mid-to-high-end manufacturing, Kaiyang is accelerating the development of manufacturing industries such as prefabricated construction and mining machinery. 

It also undertakes daily necessities manufacturing industries such as wearable equipment, watches and glasses, travel luggage and outdoor equipment manufacturing.

Deep processing of agricultural products

With the core of building selenium-enriched agricultural product brands, Kaiyang is working to develop and expand the deep processing of agricultural products.

Logistics industry

With intermodal transport services as the main body, Kaiyang is striving to develop a modern bulk logistics industry, continuing to expand and strengthen its real economy, and accelerating the formation of strategic support and new economic growth poles for the county.

Kaiyang, as one of the first batch of 20 economically strong counties approved for construction in Guizhou province, has made good progress in economic and social development in recent years.

In 2018, it was listed among National Top 100 Counties with Economic Investment Potential issued by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, ranking 14th on the list and first among all the counties in Guizhou province.
