A new supermarket that offers free exchanges of goods by redeeming points is to open its doors for business in mid-June in Kaiyang county in Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China’s Guizhou province -- according to local officials.
The supermarket, which is located in Tiankan village in Nanlong town, is the second of its kind in Kaiyang, officials said.
Residents can redeem points for more than 50 kinds of daily necessities and various products, including washing powder, umbrellas, shampoo and even induction cookers.
Officials said the way to obtain points is straight forward. Points are given for such things as having good sanitation conditions in areas surrounding houses, garbage sorting, children’s education, eliminating extravagance at weddings and funerals and to residents who support village construction work.
The point redeeming system covers 1,050 residents from around 300 households in Tiankan village.
It aims to boost the environmental and health awareness of villagers, improve their recognition of the invaluable work being done by the village committee and increase their participation in environmental sanitation and public welfare.
