Kaiyang county encouraged local residents to develop specific agricultural industries by growing grapes, roxburgh roses and vegetables, according to local officials.
Officials said that a grape plantation base had been cultivated in Liuyu village.
The village is located in Shuangliu township in Kaiyang, in Guiyang, capital of southwestern China's Guizhou province.
"This kind of grape was introduced in Hunan in 2015 and rich in anthocyanin, which is proven to protect against a myriad of human diseases," said Lv Shihua, in charge of the plantation base.
"The grape tastes good and now the plantation base covers an area of 13.3 hectares, much bigger than 2 hectares previously," Lv said.
"This year, the expected revenue is around 1 million yuan ($142,239), and more than 160 families followed the trend by growing roxburgh roses," he said.
"The revenue from roxburgh rose growing is also expected to reach more than 1 million yuan."
Since the establishment of the grape plantation base in 2010, Shuangliu township has made great efforts to promote the adjustment of its agricultural industry, aiming to help farmers increase their revenues.
In the future, the township will expand its businesses, trying to build their own brand and increase market competitiveness.
