Bureau strives to curb illegal mining activities

A special work session on cracking down on illegal mining activities was held in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on March 13, presided over by He Moujun, head of the Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning.

It was urged in the meeting that local mineral resources need to be developed and processed in a more precise way, and more actions will be taken to curb illegal mining activities, in order to propel new breakthroughs and the high-quality development of Guiyang's mining industry.

Relevant records should be set up to track such illegal activities, and government officials involved were advised to establish a sound grid management mechanism. They were also urged to utilize high-resolution satellite remote sensing images, drones, and other means to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the current supervision and control, and increase the online and offline publicity efforts for legal knowledge and typical case studies.

Departments for public security, emergency response, industry and information technology, environment protection, and forestry were encouraged to coordinate efforts, and work out a unified work mechanism.

Government officials were also urged to strengthen information collection, daily scheduling, and supervision and inspection, and organically integrate the special action to combat illegal mining of mineral resources with mineral right regulation, green mining, ecological restoration, and arable land protection.
