Huaxi district's push to go green pays off

Huaxi district in Guiyang city – capital of China's Southwest Guizhou province – has persevered with its push to go green during its development as an ecological civilization.

In 2020, Huaxi established more than 100 parks. At the same time, the forest coverage rate increased by 6.57 percentage points on the previous year to 54.95 percent, the water quality compliance rate for centralized drinking water sources remained at 100 percent and the good ambient air quality rate reached 99.1 percent.

Huaxi continues to work on its urban greening and beautification – improving the environment and making efforts in conservation and restoration.

It has boosted such activities for its mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes and grasslands – as well as reportedly doing a great job in looking after the region's ecology and in protecting its biodiversity.

It has carried out a series of ecological brand creation activities and built five provincial-level ecological towns, 50 provincial-level ecological villages and five ecologically civilized green communities.

Focusing on environmentally-friendly industries, Huaxi has attracted a number of high-tech businesses such as the Huaxi Yunding Wind Power Plant, Taibang Biologic Group and China Construction Science & Technology Group Co, to create a green industrial ecosystem.

This ecosystem with Huaxi characteristics is gradually being built and more and more businessmen from inside and outside the province have focused on the district.
