Retirees celebrate Double Ninth Festival in Guiyang

Guiyang's bureau of natural resources and planning in Guizhou province arranged for its retired officials to visit rural areas to celebrate the Double Ninth Festival on Oct 27.

The festival is an occasion to care for and send blessings to seniors across China and fell on Oct 25 this year. Thus, the activity was designed to enrich retirement for those who used to work for the bureau and promote the traditional Chinese virtue of respecting the old.

More than 40 people took part in the activity. They first went to Nanshan Station Park in Xifeng county, where they learned about the planning and development of the park's honey garden and vegetable garden.

The group then visited the poverty-relief exhibition hall and Red Rock Square at Hongyan village, Xiaozhaiba town. People from the town introduced the village's planning, construction, and industrial development, which earned praise from the retired officials.

They said that the new countryside construction was undertaken with both the economy and environment in mind and demonstrated reasonable industrial distribution.

The retired officials also offered advice for developing natural resources and expressed their opinions on how to carry out work related to retirees in the future.
