The Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning commissioned a technical unit to conduct an on-site inspection of municipal-level mining rights licensed in the city on Aug 20.

Inspectors examined the performance of the mineral rights holders' statutory obligations on natural resources. Through the inspection, the mining rights holders were urged to restore the geological environment at mines and carry out land reclamation according to regulations.

Mines were required to submit quarterly surface-underground contrast plans and synthetic plans for striping and mining. They also promised that their mining work would proceed within the approved limits for mining areas.

Inspectors also stressed that illegal activities, such as disregarding national laws and regulations and endangering workers' lives, are strictly forbidden. Mining beyond approved mining areas or seams is also prohibited.

Mineral resources should be exploited rationally and safely, without harming people's lives and property.

According to an official, the inspection is part of a three-year action plan to tackle the city's production safety issues in natural resource extraction and planning.

The plan has helped strengthen the management of mineral resources in Guiyang and Guian New Area, further regulated the city's mineral resources development and utilization and made it easier for relevant departments to ensure mine safety production.
