Party members active in front line of Covid-19 battle

The continuous efforts made by the Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning in combating the Covid-19 epidemic have been praised by locals and grassroots community workers.

As soon as the novel coronavirus disease began spreading in early spring, the Party committee of the bureau quickly established a leading group to handle it.

The sudden virus outbreak severely affected the country's economic and social development and seriously threatened the health and safety of the people.

In this context, Party members at the bureau, including officials, formed a core volunteer team of 17 to help on the front line of epidemic prevention and control, mainly providing support in neighborhood communities.

A total of 91 people were sent from Guiyang's natural resources and planning departments to 18 epidemic prevention and control points in 15 neighborhoods and communities in the city over the course of three months. They went in six batches. The bureau's Party members and officials also made donations, totaling 59,963 yuan ($8,772).

The bureau's Party Committee provided more than 900 medical masks and 23 packs of traditional Chinese medicine that could enhance resistance for the front-line team members. They also ensured each of them had disinfectant, alcohol, and anti-epidemic gloves.

According to a team leader, the front-line team members had to watch over at the entrances and exits of communities every day, checking the information of 200-300 people coming in and out and measuring their body temperature.

They also needed to check 150-200 vehicles per day, and disinfected and sterilized more than 1,500 square meters of space. During this period, many members received thank-you letters and silk banners from their neighborhood communities in recognition of their outstanding work performance.
