World Climbing Series Guiyang 2026 concludes

The three-day World Climbing Series Guiyang 2026 came to a conclusion on Sept 13 at the Guizhou Caihu International Climbing Center.

At this stop, the Chinese team delivered an outstanding performance, winning a total of seven medals including three gold medals, ranking first on the medal table. Among the highlights, Chinese athletes Zhao Yicheng and Ling Yongzhi set a new world record in the men's speed relay final with a time of 9.58 seconds, leaving a standout moment for the event.

The event not only attracted many of the world's top athletes, but also saw 24 athletes achieve personal bests.

As the only city in southwest China to host a World Climbing Series event for two consecutive years, Guiyang's sustained accumulation of event experience is gradually making the city an important destination for domestic climbing competitions.

During the event, Guiyang actively promoted the integrated development of sporting events and the city's distinctive resources, cooperating with the concurrently held 15th China (Guizhou) International Alcoholic Beverages Expo to create a variety of themed activities. This allowed spectators to experience Guizhou's distinctive alcoholic beverage culture while also feeling the speed and passion of climbing, further enriching their experience and promoting interconnection among different consumption scenarios.

The event organizing committee also arranged for climbing athletes and their accompanying family members from around the world to visit AYDC Public Art Center, where they immersed themselves in Guizhou's ethnic culture and savored authentic Guizhou cuisine, experiencing the lively atmosphere of cool and refreshing Guiyang beyond the competition.
