Guiyang to expand Kuala Lumpur flights to four times weekly from October

Flight AQ1212, operating direct from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, landed at Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport on Sept 5 with all tickets sold out. The flight, operated by 9 Air, carried approximately 150 inbound group tourists, accounting for 81 percent of the flight's total inbound passengers.

This September, the average passenger load on this route is expected to exceed 90 percent.

The inbound segment of the Guiyang–Kuala Lumpur international route continues to show strong supply-and-demand momentum, with 9 Air operating the route three times weekly on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

With inbound passenger flow on this route rising steadily and group tourists making up a notable share, the route is projected to transport about 1,800 inbound group tourists this month.

Passenger sources are primarily Malaysian locals and ASEAN-country travelers transiting through Kuala Lumpur, covering diverse travel purposes such as sightseeing vacations, cultural experiences, and business exchanges.

As Guizhou's appeal for inbound tourism continues to grow, the route will increase to four weekly flights after the winter-spring aviation season change in October 2026, with services on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Departures from Guiyang to Kuala Lumpur are at 2:50 pm, and return departures from Kuala Lumpur are at 8:20 pm, aligning with tour group itineraries and business travelers' schedules.

After the capacity expansion, the route is expected to bring in a cumulative total of over 8,000 inbound passengers from September through year-end, supplying a stable flow to Guizhou's inbound tourism market.

Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport has launched 15 international and regional passenger flights, with direct services to Macao, Bangkok, Singapore, and Ho Chi Minh City, and has handled 191,000 international and regional passengers, up 10.5 percent year-on-year.
