Guiyang to see increase in air travel during summer peak season

According to Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, during the 2024 summer peak travel season (from July 1 to Aug 31), the airport expects to transport 4.34 million passengers, averaging 70,000 passengers per day.

This represents a 7.03-percent increase compared to 2023 and a 4.93-percent increase compared to 2019, with the peak day in mid-August anticipated to reach around 75,000 passengers.

There will be a total of 29,760 passenger flights, averaging 480 flights per day, marking a 5.49-percent increase compared to 2023, with the peak day reaching approximately 505 flights. Based on these projections, the throughput is expected to increase by 3.02 percent compared to 2019 by the end of the summer peak season.

During this period, most of the flights from Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport will connect to East China, Central-South China, North China, and Northwest China, accounting for 46 percent, 22 percent, 14 percent, and 8 percent of total flights, respectively.

Popular tourist destinations this year include Altay, Xinjiang. In summer, travelers can fly to Altay from Guiyang by transiting in Urumqi. There are four daily flights from Guiyang to Urumqi operated by Tianjin Airlines and Southern Airlines, with flights scheduled throughout the day.

During the 2024 summer peak season, Guizhou's regional airports are expected to operate 303 connected flights, transporting approximately 38,500 passengers.

The connected flight routes include: Tongren=Libo with one flight per day, Libo=Xingyi with one flight per day, Maotai=Xingyi with one flight per day, Tongren=Xingyi with one flight per day, Maotai=Libo with flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, Anshun=Libo with flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and Maotai=Tongren with one flight per day.

Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport also plans to operate four international routes during the summer peak season, namely Guiyang=Macao with flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, Guiyang=Bangkok with flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, Guiyang=Shenzhen=Milan with flights on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and Guiyang=Shanghai=Osaka with flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
