The Sichuan branch of the China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID) recently released the "assessment report on the development of the data element market in West China (2024)", which evaluated the development level of the data element market in 131 cities in West China and resulted in a top-50 list.

Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, topped the list, with Chengdu and Chongqing following in the second and third places, respectively.

The report is based on the indicator system developed by the Sichuan branch of CCID from the "assessment report on the market development of China's urban data element market (2023)".

It provides a comprehensive and scientific evaluation from multiple perspectives, including data element market guarantees, data element industrial foundations, data element supply, data element circulation, and data governance.

According to the report, Guiyang secured the top spot with a comprehensive score of 84.51 points, thanks to its robust market guarantee system, solid data industry foundation, active data circulation market, and sound data governance system.

In recent years, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area have been advancing the "invigorating the city through digital economies" strategy and promoting new digital infrastructure, industrial digitalization, digital industrialization, digital governance, and data value enhancement.

These efforts aim to expand the scale, optimize the structure, and accelerate the growth of the digital economy. The added value of the digital economy in Guiyang and Gui'an currently accounts for over 50 percent of GDP.
