This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, as well as the 5th anniversary of sister city relations between Guiyang and Penang Island.
In order to promote practical cooperation between sister cities, Guiyang and Penang jointly held a video conference on June 25 to commemorate the 5th anniversary of their friendly exchanges and deepen their cooperation.

Han Liyun, director of Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office, and Kimberly Chin, Special Affairs Officer for Tourism and Creative Economy of the State of Penang, Malaysia, delivered speeches at the conference.
Representatives from Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office, Guiyang Bureau of Commerce, Guiyang Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Guiyang State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Baiyun district, Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Guiyang Foreign Trade Development Co, Guizhou Transportation Planning Survey & Design Academe Co, Guizhou Huayang Import and Export Group Co, Chery & Wanda Guizhou Bus Co, Guizhou Hankaisi Intelligent Technology Co (PIX Moving), Guizhou Longxi International Travel Agency Co, and Guizhou Overseas International Tourism Co participated in the conference onsite or via video link.

During the video conference, Han and Chin respectively introduced the economic and social development of Guiyang and Penang and proposed areas for cooperation.
Departments and enterprises in attendance engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as agricultural products, new energy vehicle trade, cultural tourism, and infrastructure construction, aligning with their respective functions and business scopes, and explored preliminary cooperation intentions.
Moving forward, Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office will carefully analyze the cooperation needs to be identified during the conference, accurately match suitable cooperation partners, and continue to maintain close communication with the State of Penang and Penang Island to share information and resources and thereby strengthen and expand cooperation.
