Guiyang and Ireland's Meath hold video meeting to commemorate 10th anniversary of friendship ties

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ireland, as well as the 10th anniversary of the establishment of friendship ties between Guiyang and Meath County.

In order to advance practical cooperation, Guiyang and Meath jointly held a video meeting on May 27 to commemorate the occasion and deepen cooperation, with a focus on matters related to economic cooperation.

Five enterprises from both sides, involved in agriculture, food, and trade, engaged in deep exchanges regarding the import and export trade of agricultural products such as beef, lamb, food and beverages, grains, and oils, exploring preliminary cooperation agreements.

Han Liyun, Director of Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office, and Des Foley, Director of Services of Meath County Council in Ireland, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

Other attendees included representatives from Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office, Guiyang Bureau of Commerce, Guiyang State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Guiyang Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone, Guiyang Agricultural Investment Development Group, Guizhou Red Elephant Trading Co, as well as those from three renowned Irish food enterprises – Center of Food Culture, Boyne Valley, AgraKepak International, and Newgrange Gold.

During the video meeting, Han and Foley introduced the economic and social development situations of their respective sides and put forward a series of cooperation proposals.

Departments and enterprises in attendance engaged in extensive exchanges in areas such as economic and trade cooperation, and agricultural product import and export, with both sides agreeing that there is vast potential for cooperation between them.

Guiyang and Meath will take the 10th anniversary as a new starting point, and continue to maintain close ties, and expand exchanges and cooperation in more diverse fields such as culture, education, and tourism, striving to transform their preliminary agreements into tangible projects.
