Guiyang, Pakse to boost economic, trade cooperation

A symposium on economic and trade cooperation between Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, and Pakse in Laos was held in Guiyang on Nov 29.

Six enterprises from both cities in the fields of trade, agriculture, and investment discussed preliminary cooperation intentions in the import and export trade of second-hand cars, agricultural products and fruits, as well as strengthening agricultural investment and cooperation in agricultural product production technology.

Han Liyun, Director of Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office, presided over the symposium. Boualy Phetsongkham, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee of Laos' Champasak Province, and Secretary of the Party Committee and Mayor of Pakse, also attended and delivered speeches.

Other attendees included representatives from the Guiyang Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Guiyang Sub-council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Guiyang Free Trade Zone, Guian Free Trade Zone, Guiyang Agricultural Investment Group, Guiyang Branch of Guangdong Agribusiness Group Corporation, Guiyang Silk Road Automobile Technology Co, and Guizhou Zhongmin Trade Co, as well as CPK Sole Co., Ltd and Vanalangsy Trading Export-Import Sole Co., Ltd from Laos.

At the symposium, Boualy Phetsongkham introduced the basic situation and main industries of Champasak Province and Pakse City.

Attendees from both departments and enterprises conducted extensive exchanges in the fields of economy, trade, and agriculture based on their respective functions and business scopes, and agreed that there is vast space for cooperation and unlimited prospects for collaboration between Guiyang and Pakse.

The symposium is a concrete step taken by Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office to implement the "Strengthening Provincial Capital" campaign, make full use of the sister city platform, and deepen exchanges and cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road and members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

Guiyang and Pakse will continue to maintain close contact, establish an effective communication mechanism, and strive to transform cooperation intentions into tangible projects.
